I just received a message from my mom. She went to the hospital to get a checkup together with my aunt. She texted me and said that my aunt's earrings were snatched and they are so sad because it is really expensive.
I wonder why some people can't learn and adapt the rules when going in public places specially where there are a lot of thieves. Now I'd like to share with you those rules:
1. Don't look rich, thieves love rich people.
2. Don't wear expensive jewelry (... shiny things... thieves and snatchers and hold-up-er love those..)
3. Don't use your phone in public areas (don't even show them you got a phone).
4. Don't bring out your wallet. (If you know you'll make payments, I suggest you take out enough money ahead and just use that. They love wallets... thick or not)
5. Don't act like a stupid. (.. not, you're not stupid. But if people notice you're new to the place or look like lost, you'll be a good victim)
6. Avoid going to places where you know there are just a lot of bad guys (as much as you can. To avoid bad things, don't risk yourself by going to places where most bad incidents happen)
and this is the best I think:
LOOK LIKE YOU ARE WORSE THAN THEM.
Yeah.. It works.. Believe me. If they see you look someone like who can do worse than they can.. Geee.. they'll avoid you.
Now guys, always be careful, okay?

Well, this doesn't sound very fun at all. Even a little paranoid. I have written an article about safety and it is just being aware of your surroundings and going with your gut feelings. Things like that. But to go places looking poor and not wearing your favorite bracelet for fear of getting it stolen. Next maybe we should stay at home in the dark with a shotgun near by. Paranoia will destroy ya!

Hi!
well.. it's not really being a paranoid. But just some measures, the only crazy thing I guess was the last one.
Those are very useful tips specially if you live here in the Philippines.

I just wouldn't want to go out if I couldn't look nice.

Nowadays thieves and robberies are becoming more and more cruel. They just dont mind what they do they just need money.Your points to be taken care of are all of greater importance. And one of the most important thing is the ornaments and the jewellery, there are few cases in recent past, that the thieves had just cut the hands of the women to robb the costly and hold rich jewellery she had.Thats too horrible. The best thing we can do is to follow these simple rules first.

Hi!
Yeah, these people act like they are not humans anymore. They don't care what they have to do. They can kill people and they are used to doing that. So what can we do but just be careful, right?

Yes, some people want to make people wow on them. And some just think "Oh, I'll never be a victim!".. But we all need to be careful specially in hard times like now..

The things that you enumerated are the things i always do, whenever i have to go out. I never wear expensive jewelry, specially if i just have to commute through a public transport. I don't make it a habit to text whenever i ride those jeepneys or tricycles. I avoid dark places.
Sometimes, we owe it to ourselves why we experience those things. So, let's just all be simple specially when we have to go in a public place. There's no need to display our expensive things.

Yes, I agree with you. If we just do what we know we should, we are less likely to become victims of such crimes.
Happy day!

yes. How can we stay inside the house only. When we go out we should be cautious. Even when we are cautious people do cheat us. We must be prepared to lose some also. that is the nice way of consoling. It is only because we were having we lost. Imagine we were not having it!(not practicable probably)

Hi!
I like your mindset. Yes, sometimes we need to prepare ourselves for losing some.. just some. Let's be careful that what we lose is just some.. and we lose because we have something. Something others don't have. let's just be happy with that fact and always be careful wherever we are and whoever we are with.

hi Bannybanzie,
those are some good reminders for everyone of us. thanks for sharing them for we should not always be so complacent in this present time and in our environment especially if we are going to new places. we should always be on alert and aware of what is going around us. if i could only have an extra eye at the back of my head, i will have an advantage of seeing who is behind me..hehe..that will scare the bad guys off when they see my extra eye looking at them with sinister look!
take care and have a lovely day...

Hi!
Yeah, we should always, always be alert. If we are not, we might fall into traps and be the next victim.
Happy mylotting!

Wonder what it looks like being worst than them
. Anyway, good points there, no matter what we do, we should be aware of what we're doing when we're outside particularly in public places where everything can happen.
Just be simple as possible, if you don't have a ride and just commute, you don't have to flank your bling-blings with you. It is understood that people who can wear jewelries means they have their cars with them and they know what functions they are attending. But if you have a car and your going to the market place, no need to wear jewelries too, simple as possible to be safe.

If we look worse than them...
soooo cute..
It's just a reminder to everyone. Always be careful and don't put unnecessary things which may even actually put a person's life at risk, right?

I travel alone all the time to a lot of places wherre other people say I should not go alone. I follow the reasonable rules od safety (the ones you mentiones) and have never hd any problem. I have gone alone or with a friend to Mexico and only use public transportation. No problem at all: mexicn are awesome. But I don“t travel in mink coats (if I had one
).

Sad but so true that we have to take all the precautions today as there are many thieves willing to instantly take from us. Yes your tips are definitely good ones, though I am not sure about looking worse then them, lol.. because there can be some that are easily identifiable.
But yes we must be alert at all time while on the roads, and or outdoors because this type of wrongful activity can happen just about anywhere.

Hello!
Well, if we look worse than them or at least look so poor.. it will work. My father told me about his friend taking a bus with a basket full of money. He wore dirty torn shirt and pants, thin slippers, and the basket looks very old and put some rotten vegetables on top of the basket. He put the basket down and slept in the bus, nobody tried to steal it.. Who would think that has money? LOL...
But of course, if we are like going to work, we would not want to do that kind of "fashion"..

Hello Banny,
I always follow your tips whenever i have huge money in my pocket.I remember once me & my father were coming from my village and we had a briefcase along with us with full of money in it. We both were fearing as we had to go back to home which around 100 km away from our home by public transport i.e by BUS.You know what we do we did not sit on one seat as my father told that if we sit on one seat there are possibility that we will talk about the money which we were carrying with us at any time which some one can hear
and get us in trouble. But that really helped us and we reached home with our money easily and safely. So sometimes these sort of thing help us.

Hi!
What you told reminded me of my dad's friend who also had to carry a basket full of money as he is going to pay a land he bought. What he did was he went alone, wore ripped clothes, look dirty, put rotten veggies on top of the basket. He just put the basket under his seat and slept during the whole ride which was long. He was able to reach his destination safe and secure. Nobody attempted to take the money, I guess they've never guess that was money at all! Maybe they thought an old beggar...
Well, let's just all be careful and watchful.
