If it don't look good...don't eat it?

I'm a very visual person and if something don't look good I won't eat it, at least that's the way I used to be. Now if someone asked me to taste something that don't look to appetizing to me I at least give it a taste, and would you know that 9 out of 10 times the yucky looking food tastes delicious. Have you ever turned down a good thing just because of looks?

I used to be exactly the same way, if something to me didn't look or smell appetizing there was no way in hell I was eating it. But I have learned to enjoy and try everything. A perfect example for me were squids and oysters. I used to see people eating them and I thought to myself "how can they it", the texture was so slimy yuck.. Now, I love it, everytime I go to a buffet or seafood restaurant and they have it, I normally order it, especially with some lemon and cocktail sauce YUMMY!!!

Very good point....only cause it looks pretty doesn't always mean it tastes good. Smelling things is still the best way to find out if you want to eat something

I can think of things from my childhood that tasted disgusting and so the sight of them now can still be a big turn off for me. Things like tripe, turnip, swede and cooked celery. There are some gourmet sausages available at the supermarket these days. I was curious and bought some once, they were a pinky red colour and tasted disgusting and I'm still put off by them when i see them in the store.

When i was a kid, i am quite same like you, always prefer to stay away from food that don't look good. Only when i was around nearly ten years old, then only i realized that not every food that don't look good tastes bad. Because at that time, i start to help my mother to prepare food and get the chance to taste many kind of food. Actually, some of them tastes very delicious. Now, i prefer only to stay away from food that don't smell nice. Because i don't have much appetite for it, if the food don't smell nice.

Most of the time I will look the appearance of food, but sometimes I will try it whether it looks good or not. If the dish look very urgly, I think no one will want to eat it.

(0 times out of a 100 I'm right when I say I don't like it just cause it looks gross but there was a few times I was really surprised how something so nasty looking could taste so good...you just never know

I am like you! I never used to eat something that looked funny, however when the kids started coming along I had to at least try some new things or I really couldn't justify them trying it! I actually started to like certain foods. I was never a big fan of Chinese food because I didn't like all that food mixed together on one plate. I finally tried Chinese food about 20 years or so ago (I was well into my twenties at the time). I was surprised that I liked it and a little embarrassed that the only reason I never tried it before was that it didn't look good to me.

There's a lot of food that I missed out on by not trying it that's why now I at least give it a try before I say "OH GROSS"
