I am going to Denver area to see an old girlhood friend next week. She lives in Parker, about 10 miles or so south of Denver. I have not seen her since about 1970 when she lived in California. A lot has changed for both of us. I am very excited but also nervous. I do not travel much but I am planning to do more this year and next and hopefully continuing. We have tickets to see the band ABBA at Red Rock Amphitheater . I have only been through Colorado and Denver. I can not say that I have seen very much. Now I am going to see some of Colorado -- only a small segment to be sure but still I am going to spend some time in the Denver area. I live in Central Texas and it has been brutally hot. We are really suffering here. Denver is only slightly better in the daytime but I believe that it is a dry heat and the nights go down into the 60's. I might need to wear a sweater and socks at night. When I last saw my friend, she lived in California. I do not believe that she had yet had her first child. She was newly married. Now her husband has passed. Her children are middle aged and her grandchildren are teenagers. Where have the years gone?

Sounds like quite an adventure. Wow it's been over 40 years so things will be different. Did you keep in touch all those years? I hope this all turns out beautifully for you.

I hope it goes well. I have changed and so has she. We are most certainly not the same people we were 40 years ago, We did not keep in touch all these years. I last remember seeing her about 1970. I did not see her or hear from her again until she called me about 1995 regarding our families. We then lost touch again. I got my first computer just going on four years ago at the age of 62. One of my hobbies was trying to find people from my past. With some difficulty, I was able to find this friend about two or so years ago. When we last spoke, she lived in California but now was in Colorado. And we have been in touch since. She has been wanting me to come visit and I finally agreed. One of my concerns is that I am a severe insomniac. I often can not sleep until early morning. She has a large house. I will have my own bedroom and bathroom. My insomnia will not bother her sleeping but I still often suffer from the effects of my insomnia. I am often tired or fatigued among other things. Sometimes I can not sleep until 7 am and sleep as late as 10:30 am. But can not sleep later. And then move slowly. This friend knew me before I ever developed insomnia. I have told her about my insomnia. I have even offered to stay at a hotel. She would not hear of it. As said, her home is so large that my insomnia will not bother her sleeping. But non-insomniacs do not understand the effects that sleep deprivation has on a person. However, the good news is that I usually sleep better when I am away from home and my community. I went to visit a friend in Florida last year. They had a small place. The husband is also an insomniac and his is more severe than my own. I slept so well at their place that they did not quite believe that i was an insomniac. And this happens when I travel.. My insomnia is at its most worse when I am home and in my own community. Once out of my city, my insomnia improves greatly. I hope that this will happen.
