I've decided to start working on a new short story. I've set up the history behind the story, though I'll probally add some more information to it once I'm done. This is just a rough draft, or a first swing through it. I'd really appreciate any feedback, or suggestions that you may have. And once I start putting the actual story together, I'll keep you posted on how it's going, and the new updates.
Since the dawn of time, a tribe of anthros have lived deep within the heart of a certain forest. This forest is known simply as: Dragon's Crest. Through the years, they watched from the shadows as a civilization began to form itself around them. This civilization eventually became known as, China. Many have wondered how the village of anthros were able to exist, without being found out, hunted down, and slain. They were never found, because the forest was protected by a magical barrier, making it impossible for anyone not of the tribal bloodline to enter. It was not simply to protect the tribe of anthros, there was something far more important at stake. The infamous, Jade Dragon, which the tribe of anthros have been protecting, and worshipping since the begining of their own formation. While none outside of the village have proof that the dragon exists, tales of his beauty, wealth, and mystery have been passed down to mortal man, and other creatures alike. They all seek to find the dragons nest, and take the wealth for themselves.
Recently something strange has happened within, Dragon's Crest. The magical barrier grew weak, until it finally just disappeared. Unable to do anything about it from the village. The Chief had no choice but to send someone out on a Quest, to find out what happened to the barrier, and find a way to re-establish it once more. Knowing that he must stay behind, along with the warriors, to protect the dragon from harm. The Chief sent out the only individual he felt could handle the job. Xiu Qian, his only unwed child. He had thought of sending one of his sons, but they are all married, with young ones of their own. And since the village is growing smaller and needs to be re-populated to thrive, Xiu seemed like the best choice. Besides that, he had raised the girl since she was a cub, and knew what the girl was capable of. So now Xiu travels the lands, and various realms, in hopes of finding the answers she seeks. Knowing that she's on a tight schedule for each day the barrier is down, it's another day the forest is exposed, and the village and dragon are both put in potential danger.
