How to say politely to a friend who has bad breath

its better for you to say that he/she has bad breath
can you say it to him/her politely

actually it is very hard to solve. in the school where i teach now, we have a friend who have such problem. we feel bad when we smell the odour crom from his body (when he has sweet so much. oneday, when we had a meeting, and the vice principal hd a general announcment (not personally intended) that all teacher must have good smell, and the school will buy rexona if we wont buy it using our money. and it worked

I once had a teacher whose breath was so bad I nearly passed out whenever I was near him. I wrote him a note.

I just struggled with this recently but I just could not do it. I don't think there is any polite way to do it besides maybe offering them some gum or something...I don't know.

Maybe instead of saying something you can just offer some gum or breathe mint. The friend might not feel so offended that way.

Be a true friend, and say to him politely that probably his toothpaste is not good enough or his mouthwash is not working the way it should work.
If you inform him about it, he will be thankful to you, as by doing so you are saving him from other embarrassing situations due to his bad breath.
