I grew up on British Food, and apart from roast beef and yorkshire pudding, I was very happy to leave home and discover the secret of using spices other than salt and pepper. When I think of French food, I think of rich sauces and delicate herbs. When I remember the food of my childhood, I think of plain, boiled potatoes, overcooked vegetables, and mounds of unseasoned, ground beef. I think English cooking has evolved since I left home though, so I could be misjudging it. I live in North America now, and you can find lots of websites making fun of the food we used to eat in the 70s. Maybe I'm just associating English cooking, with the terrible food era I happened to grow up in.

Yes. I thought of british food from those internet jokes. But hardly i can see british food in my native place. anyway i can guess when u say boiled potatos and vegetables. Spice and salt is one of major inventions and man and thank god, no one patented it.!! :)

well I would prefer British food, I don't like french food. Good old plain English food would suit me fine.
