The Rioting in London

I am hearing and reading about the rioting in London and elsewhere in England. Sounds like a bad and out of control situation. It reminds me of the rioting in The United States during the 60's and 70's. I know that many mylotters are British and I was wondering what is going on now in your neck of the woods. I read and hear some but I am in The United States. I do not quite understand why this is happening. While we are getting a lot of information, it still seems somewhat limitted because our own problems take precedence.
It was a British mylotter who first made me and other mylotters aware of The News of the World scandal before it broke.
Can you explain the situation that is currently happening in London? And what is your point of view?

Spike the lobster has responded pretty well but, what somebody else has said is true too as I beleive the FCO are advising against travel to the UK and I work in travel and find it so saddening that these idiots are making or country a palce that is being advised not to travel to. They are ruining lives, homes, businesses and communities and they all deserve to be punished properly.

I feel angry at what these hoodlums are doing and have done. And I live in The United States. If I were in England, I would be furious .... I imagine that this is not a good time to travel to England and that the travel industry is taking some punches. It is a shame. You are right in what you said about these criminals hurting lives and the economy. And they do need to be punished.

It is very sad to see a country like England having these problems. It never used to be this way. I would like to know the root of the criminals. Who are they and what is motivating them? Is it unemployment or what?

Unemployment might be a factor but that is not an excuse to do what these gangs are doing. These rioters and looters are criminals who are inventing excuses for what they are doing. Most, if not all, the victims are innocent people who might also be struggling themselves.
