Can the battery of an MP3 player by incorrect charging, get broken?

Will my battery charge from an MP3 player. Because loaded through USB but I have a problem because I can only 1 or 2 hours per day on the PC. Therefore I thought that I invite him to 4 x 1 hour, instead of 4 hours at a time. So invite hour per day in 4 days = full battery. I do nothing then but the when I'm so loaded, and the next day I have to invite over again. What can I do?

It would be best to buy a USB charger. Unfortunately, the issue is neither the model nor the type of connection, I am typing now sometimes lump sum on mini-USB, the port with the highest penetration rate.
Which device is used to matter, because USB is standardized (at 5V and max. 500 mAh charging current). Maybe even someone in the family an appropriate charger for mobile phone or navigation device? In future this will be the way, anyway the standard for mobile phone chargers.
