I am not an Indian but I've heard this from my Indian friends.
That's really great to celebrate this kind of bonding between siblings and thu I am not there I want to greet my virtual Indian brothers "Raksha Bandhan" and give them a silk thread as well.

Thanks for the wonderful link my friend. I was not aware what Raksha meant but now I do. I don't really have brothers and sisters in which I can celebrate this with.

Yes you are my little brother and sorry was thinking about the biological ones I have never met. I have four brother and I have never met any of them. But am glad I do have a little brother here.

hello, I find this very informative and quite unique, from a culture that have father's and mother's day, I hope we also have something to celebrate bond between brothers and sisters then perhaps there would be lesser sibling rivalry

We people used to celebrate Raksha bandhan on august 14. On there days i used to tie rakhi at my sisters. We used to tie rakhi each other at my sister and have have sweets. Actually such celebrations helps us to strength our relations strong.
