I'm interested in starting a preschool in my home. What has it been like to have a daycare or preschool in your home? How has it benefited you and your family? How much do you charge per child? Do you run your business full or part time? Do you have a degree for your business? Thanks so much for sharing your experience with me. I think starting a preschool will be something that I would enjoy doing. I see that there is a lot involved but that's with starting any business.

I have had a licensed daycare in my home. Rules are different from state to state. It has its ups and downs. To be taken seriously as a preschool teacher or provider you need some kind of a degree, even if it is only an Associate. Things are more complicated than when I had a daycare. You now have to have a background check, and anyone in your home does as well. The good things are that you have the deductions for running a home business, you can be home with your own children, you can have fun with the other children. Some states provide extra nutrition help as well or give you commodities. Downside is the people who scam you, who fail to pay. Children who do not have their basic needs met at home such as food and cleanliness and suitable meals and routines can make it hard to keep on providing good care. You need to have cpr and first aid and have your vehicle inspected if you plan to take them in your car. It can be a really good choice, though, and I am glad I did it for a while. Check with your state social services. It is called different things in different states.

Thanks for giving me more information about this. I'm glad that you were able to have a daycare in your home. I've thought about the people who will probably fail to pay. Dealing with individuals like that will be frustrating. It makes since about the background check if my child were going to someone's home for preschool or daycare I would want a background check for those living in the home. That is neat that the state will probably give commodities that would help a great deal. I know I would enjoy being able to stay at home with my child and teach other children while they are in my care. I really appreciate the help it gives me more confidence to accomplish this, knowing that others were able to do it, and that it worked well for them.
