September 27, 2011 here in the Philippines in my area of the country experienced one of the most devastating typhoons of this year if not the worst, and off course all of us know that when weather is bad most of the time power outage is inevitable because power lines are exposed to the elements and since the elements that day was terrible power outage occurred and it was more terrible for some because i at my area power outage lasted for 8 hours and at my girlfriend's place it lasted for more than a day and you what is so sad about this matter is that one of her fish died and it's not just an ordinary fish it was an angel fish that we took care of for almost a year and from a barely 1 inch diameter fish that thing was now 3 inches and since there is no electricity the only thing that we can do is put it on a basin that was wide enough so that he can, maybe get more air but apparently it was already too late for him and yesterday at exactly 1020 in the morning he passed away, poor fish it never had a chance, well anyway I'll buy my gal a new one tomorrow and will prepare a more drastic measure the next time maybe buy a battery operated aerator, whatever, anyway hope that his in peace now, goodbye and take care fishy...
how bout you guys any sad fish story?

I only had fish who we use to over feed and they would passed away because of it. It wasn't as important as an angelfish but we used to buy those ordinary ones. We always bought new fishes but everytime we would do the same thing. We were kids, we didn't know. So our parents stop buying us fish and now that we are older, we don't know what might happen next.

I have noted that a typhoon that takes place towards the later part of September of any year is always a very fierce one in this part of the world. The typhoon is always characterized to come with heavy rains, strong winds bringing about flooding in some areas and the trees breaking and falling.
The angel fish is a sensitive fish thus it requires a good amount of caring. To buy a battery operated aerator is a wise decision to counter the ill effects of a power outage to aquarium fishes.
My first sad experience involving the fishes in the aquarium was when a visitor came over for some weeks of vacation. He was so amazed with the beauty of it all that he seemed to be so taken by it. I had never noticed that he kept on giving the fishes some feeds. He had polluted the aquarium to such a degree as to kill all the fishes therein. This happened only for the few hours after his arrival. I had to brief him on the proper care given to a live aquarium soon after.

Angel fish is really delicate as far as my experiences with aquarium fishes is concerned. It's good you were able to keep that angel fish alive for that long but me it takes only some weeks an then they'd die. I don't know why I have no luck with angel fish although I like them. They really behave like angels I should say. However because I have already spent so much money in buying them I switched to other kinds of fishes. I think that is the best decision instead of feeling really sad when they die after few days.

Its not the aerator my friend, it might be the temperature of the water and the quality of water that your fish has a problem with. Fishes depend on the quality of the water, they will live even without eating for days as long as their water is clean. I don't know if when you place him in that basin using the same water in the tank or you switched it with a new one?
Fishes cannot easily adopt new water without treating the water plus the temperature which angel fish would opt for is warmer one. Hope you also not mingle that poor thing with aggressive fishes. Anyway, sorry to hear that the fish is gone.
