Loving Yourself First

I've been told, and I believe it, that we have to become people we can love before we can expect others to love us. Learning to accept ourselves, along with all our faults and imperfections can be a daunting challenge at best. But it can be done. Each of us is loveable even when we don't think we are. When we start to focus on those things we like about ourselves we become freer to participate in relationships outside of ourselves. Fear vanishes, self-consciousness leaves, and we find we have a new appreciation for who we are. Once we can love ourselves, we can begin to open up and love others as well as allow others to truly love us. Where are you on this path? I am still struggling at times as I imagine we all are. None of us is perfect and we are all so good at seeing our own imperfections that we believe that is all anyone else sees. What do you do to help boost your own self-esteem? I try to remember that I am created by God and He doesn't make junk. He loves me, so I need to find that part of me that is loveable and work on making myself better.

Yes, learning to love our self will teach us how to correctly love other people. We can't be happy while we're hurting our self by keeping on accepting things that are not doing us good. If we love our self first, then we can share the feeling and have happy moments with whom we love.

I believe too that loving ourselves first will make us able to love others as well. For self-esteem and feeling my own worth, I usually turn to God to make myself feel better whenever I feel bad abnout myself.

Hello capinari, Yes, before loving someone else we have to learn to love our own self. If we are able to love and accept ourselves that is the time that we can love and accept other people. I think I love myself but sometimes insecurities would just come. I would just pray and remember that I am a champion and I should not feel negatively. I try to stay positive that I am beautiful in my own way that's why I should love myself more. Yes, I agree with you, when we are in doubt we should always remember that we are created by God's image and likeness. He made as a champion and he made us loveable. Have a great day ahead of you and happy mylotting red_amethyst
