Friends -- This is my first Diwali after joining mylot. In India we give importance of first diwali after marriage.
Similarly I value this Diwali very much--my first (in tamil Thalai Diwali-(head)) diwali. I got up only at 5 pm because children are not there with us and I will be watching the crackers being burnt by other children.
i am reminded of my younger days when my mother use to wake us up at 3.30 am give us oil bath and then we will light fire crackers.
In those days there use to be competition with other children --telling " I got up at 2 am I got up at 3 am..." like that we use to feel proud of getting up early.
I am sure in families where there are young children they would have got up early say before 4 am for lighting crackers. At what time you got up and started celebrating Diwali.?
Happy diwali.

Yes.both of you are from Philipines. --of the age of my children -- Well if you are in chennai certainly I can give you badham halwa -- excellent tasty sweet plus gulab jamun.(made of milk).
Regarding sarees you will like fancy sarees from shops like RMKV,Pothys, Chennai Silks where they cost around Rs. 500 or so($10)
Blue design fine you can take. also gold. approved. normally when we give presents we do not give sarees with black orientation so that alone you have to buy yourself.(jaiho)
blessings and good wishes

Hello Ravisivan and Happy Diwali to you!
I had not heard of Diwali until I became a member here. We do not celebrate Diwali but seems like it is very holy, festive and fun amongst the families.
Enjoy my friend and have a wonderful blessed day.

Yes. Besides holidays these festivals indicate change of season, climate and the need for man to remember about Nature God and thank him.
