I have seen this movie on the HBO the other night. I like the plot and theme very much. I just wonder if it has a book version. The character of the hero is very well defined. I like him because he's smart, clean yet resilient. Traits that I wanted to have and to develop for myself. Though the plot may have political content, still you will respect the steadfastness of the hero.
Have you seen it? Can you share your views about it?

I love it! It is so clever how he planned his escape. I saw it twice. It is also looking at how ex convicts cope with the outside world. Remember the old man who killed himself? It was so sad. I am glad the morgan freeman character decided what he decided.
The warden character is so terrible. His character is itself a criminal.
I love the part of how he escape. From how he gets rid of the remains of his digging to the part where he has to put up with human waste. To me that is the best part.
I like the part where the friend (morgan freeman) has to figure out the puzzle he left.. ooo I just love it!

Thanks for the comments mmof3kids.
You are right about everything. The story was cleverly written and I'm glad I've seen the movie.
But somehow, for those who are weak in heart, what Tim Robbins experienced in the story is not so possible. They may have loose hope. But for them who are strong by heart, hope remains.
I pray and hope that I would always be strong enough to face challenges.
Have a nice day!

The movie was based on a Stephen King short novel "Rita Hayworth and the Shaw Shank Redemption". It was published in the collection "Different Seasons" which came out in 1982.

Do you mean, "The Shawshank Redemption?" If so, yes, I've seen it. It's a very honorable movie. I saw it my sophomore year in high school, my history teacher showed it to us. I love Morgan Freeman in it. Then again, I love him in anything! It was such an amazingly done film, one of the best I've seen by far.

Hahaha. I got the title wrong. Yes, you are correct... I am referring to that movie. The movie is indeed educational but when you look at the system how prisoners were treated there, you feel sorry for them. They already lost their freedom but being treated like animals may not let them realize that they committed mistake. It may only aggravate the animal side of man.
