It is too expensive to deal with the dentist

I got a letter recently from the dentist, and told me that my dental insurance won't pay for my third periodic cleaning. So, I owed them $92 in balance. Today, with good will, I arrived at the dentist office to take care of the balance. The receptionist present me another bill, that also saying that the dental insurance won't pay for part of the root canal surgery I had done recently. And a $38.00 is also due. I just paid it together as well. Now, the dentist want to me do the bridge and a crown for my root canal, and the pre - estimate is that insurance will pay for half of it, and I have pay for another half as my portion. The total price is $1400 out of pocket. After I heard that number, I was shocked, and I just tell them I couldn't pay that price now. I still got other payments to take care of. It was like a hard sale from the dentist, and encourage me to do it as soon as possible. I also shot back, how about cut back on my periodic cleaning from 4 times per year to 2 times per year. Since my insurance only pay twice per year. After it, I have to pay out of my pocket on the cleaning. Gosh, it was just another financial stress added on my shoulder. I probably will switch to another dentist after I have done the crown and bridge.

I have never had a bridge or a crown, but that sounds really expensive. It might be a good idea to look for another dentist later. It don't know if it is the same in your country, but in my country there is a huge difference between the dentists. Some of them are really, really expensive and some of them cheap compared to the others. I needed a dental treatment and at first I checked one clinic and I was told that it would be very expensive and then I checked another one and the difference between the prices were extreme. I don't want to pay 5 times more just to go to a fancy clinic in a beautiful building, and I think that you should check at least a couple of clinics before you make a decision.

Listen to that price list, and I still have to a filling for one of tooth. Actually, I already had a couple of filling on my teeth, I don't know why she still have to do another one. That scares me.

i guess you are in a bind with this dentist. i agree with you to start looking for another dentist that will provide services that are in affordable and reasonable prices. anything that is outrageous nowadays should be avoided. i am sure there are others who offer the same services in a lower price. let us show them that consumers are wiser that they thought.

I guess you are indeed right. Dental problems are such a pain in your area. But perhaps you can find another dentist that is not so expensive. In our country, I would say dental jobs are not so high. Although there are those that are really expensive but mostly affordable. I have a cousin who works abroad, who went all the way here to have her teeth repaired instead of having it fixed there. She was glad to enjoy a little vacation along the way and have her teeth repaired as well. The cost of the airfare, roundtrip was even lesser than the charge if she had her teeth repaired there. So, I think it's quite expensive in some other countries as compared to ours.

Going to dentists is really expensive. I had braces before because I had problems with my biting. It was so costly. The braces are costly, and I also had to go back to them once in a while for check up and adjustments. After they removed the braces, I had to pay again for the retainers. It was too much. Now, she was asking me to go back to her for the x-ray because she needed to remove my wisdom tooth. I don't think so! I don't want to spend that much for the dentist again.
