I had 2 plants of early zuchini that I started in pots. Later on, I made a hill in a sunny spot with 5 or 6 seeds. The seeds didn´t come up so I transplanted the zuchnnis from their container. As soon as the seeds saw this, they became jealous and came up. We had to move them to another place a soon as we could.
The 2 bigger plants are now with thrit first flowers. One is a female flower but I don´t know if it will turn into my fist zuchinni.
I´ll post the picture.

No signs of an edible zuchinni yet, but I keep on hoping. It´s just Spring here and the plant is still small. I have the first flowers though. I could eat zuchinni every day of the week in a different kind of dish
. I´m counting on that.

They are pretty tolerant of water, as long as the roots are not always wet!
I think that your plant, being immature, is putting all of it's energy into growing, and at this stage I remove flowers until it is about 1/2 a metre.
I have always had much more success with watering in the morning, as then they are NOT standing in cold ground, (pots) overnite that will inhibit their growth and blooming!
How cool are your nights right now...as I found my "cucurbit family" and "nightshade family" plants do not become truly productive until the nights are 15 Celcius +!
Have you tried deep-frying the flowers in avery light tempura batter, or stuffing them with spiced ground turkey? Yum..yum!
Once again, I am loving your good news...Take extra special care of yourself!
HUGZ!

I find it interesting that the seeds could get jealous. I like the way you described that! That will show them to not come up when they were planted! Have you started getting any zucchini yet? How long does it take for them to start producing once they are planted? I hope you get lots of good vegetables out of your garden! Have a great weekend!!!

I'm so envious! Your zucchini plant looks so very healthy. It's still winter here and, although the temperatures this winter have been extremely mild, it's still too cold to start anything at this point.
However, I have started some new herbs to add to my kitchen windowsill collection because I'm so very anxious to get started. Around the end of this month I should be able to start some veggie seeds inside. Seeing your gorgeous plant growing has only added to my impatience.
Most of my bulb flowers have sprouted already and they normally don't show themselves until mid- to late-March at the earliest. This mild winter has really confused them. I hope the sporadic freezes haven't hurt them any and they have a chance to blossom. I'm also a bit worried that because we've had such an unusual winter are we also going to have an unusual growing season? Since moving to this area I've put in a lot of work each year only to get rather disappointing results. The only things that seem to grow really well are those I have growing in containers on my deck.
I'll be trying zucchini myself this year and, if I do manage to get anywhere near the awesome results you have, I'll take photos to share with you. Ever since you posted that recipe and photo of your tomato and zucchini dish I've wanted to try it. Hopefully I can this year.

your zuchinni plant looks so good. I haven't done any gardening so far since I never have enough time for it but I would love to do it and grow my own food in my garden. My parents grow tomatoes, green chili and coriander in their garden. I want to do it too this summer...Anyways, good luck with the zuchinnis...
