There is evidence all over the web about philips plasma tv's with capacitors on the power board that failed due to not putting a preservative in them.
Per the proposed settlement if you can prove you bought theses TV's during that period around early 2007, called the company, and got it repaired and still have all the receipts that specify that this particular area failed you get up to a certain amount of cash. Lawyers get 1.575 million and the rest get vouchers to buy other philips tvs. In my case the tv failed and I replaced it I would get a voucher that would be worth 3.3% of the value of the tv and we have an 11% sales tax!
Someone tell me why the hell the lawyers should get a cut of the estimated damages of my TV for a class of owners they did not represent adequately?
I apparently have to mail four separate entities to take my right to sue Philips away from them. I am sure it would cost Philips more that a $60 voucher to represent themselves in small claims court. Why could lawyers suing a company for shoddy manufacturing agree to a settlement that involved buying more product from that same manufacturer? Do they get a marketing or bird dogging fee for directing business to Philips also?
