Medicare Supplemental Insurance quotes

I'm really at a loss here. I'm on disability and I'm on regular Medicare part A and B. Any time I go to the hospital or to a doctor they always ask me if I have any supplemental insurance, and I say NO. Actually, I can't seem to get any real information about supplemental medicare insurance. They all say for people 65 and older.. well, I'm 61 and on Medicare and have been for about 15 years now.
The thing is, the psychiatrist I see will charge me $95 because Medicare doesn't pay psychiatrists in the same what they pay medical docs, so I have been going without medication for a very long time now. Once my doc referred me to a psychiatrist, I am kind of held captive, because he won't release me until I go again, and she can't treat me with medication until he does.
So I am trying to get supplemental insurance to cover the cost of going to the psychiatrist, but I can't seem to find one to get a quote. I found several online and instead of giving me a quote it gives me a contact page for a sales person to call me. I don't want that.. I want a real live quote.
Does anyone on Medicare who is under 65 have supplemental insurance? If so... what type do you have, and what kinds of premiums do you have to pay? Please.. I need some REAL information here.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

Thanks Winterose. I already signed up for an advantage plan through Humana. My other friend, Getsome2 explained to me what she has for her medicare plan. So I have it too now... or will have in January.. I'm glad because there will be NO deductible I have to meet with it. I still have to keep paying for my original medicare.. from what I gather, the original medicare picks up where the advantage plan leaves off.. she explained that the old medicare becomes secondary. So my premium for Humana is the lowest.. $42... and my medicare is $110... so for $152 I will have much better coverage than I had before.

I am not from USA. I think in this situation it is your children son or daughter has to help you. I wish you get the confidence to manage without medicines also for psychiatric treatment. good day.

It has nothing to do with confidence, Ravisivan. I've been without medication now for over 6 months and my chemical imbalance, a brain disorder in other words, is not being treated because I cannot afford to see the doctor.

I'm not sure what you mean about my children having to help me. My children can not pay my medical bills. It's not that way here in the states. We have to have insurance to pay our own way.. we cannot expect our families to assume the cost. I just don't know how to find the supplemental insurance I need.

Great. With difficulties also you are making very good postings.
Till the supplemental insurance is got -- how to get that --by paying extra premium? -- I suggested let that be taken care of by your son or daughter because if they can pay it will be good.
Happy to see you with more confidence-- the way you replied early.

As one who has been on medicare since I was 57 and a supplement from my former employer. There are medicare supplements out there and a lot of them better than Humana. United Healthcare is now the largest in the US and they even have discounted policies offered through AARP. AARP is open to any senior or disabled person over the age of fifty.
As for the one above that says Humana is taking over medicare you may want to check that closer. If they tell you that find yourself a new agent as this one is lying to you.
http://www.aarp.org/ is a very good place to start your search for insurance to go along with your medicare, they will guide you to companies that will pay the entire 20% that medicare does not pay. Even for chiropractors and psychiatrist.
I hope this helps.

No, they haven't taken over medicare.. they, like other companies are contracted with the government. I already signed up with Humana now... I checked and my psychiatrist does accept humana. I've been all this time not knowing what to do, but now I have something and I'm happy with it... or will be.. I think. My doctor visit will be a lot less than it was the last time I went. I only had till Dec 7 to enroll.. I've been seeing commercials for Humana and Blue cross Blue Shield and some others and they all give Dec 7 as the deadline. I'm just glad to get better than what I had.

I am also on medicare & i do have a supplement. I have blue cross & blue shield & it is quite expensive for my pocketbook but it sute does come in handy. it costs me $a little over $150 a month. I think u should talk to some people before u decide. Ask your friends, maybe they have a supplement.

Since I wrote this I signed up with Humana. It is $42 a month. So with my Medicare costing $110 a month I can afford that cost of the supplement. Thanks!
