Well I learned my lesson. I was working on a new cross stitch project, and it was on 25ct.
I was having a hard time with it. Not so much seeing the holes but if I worked around empty stitches to use a color and come back to the other single color stitches. I worked on this for 14 days.
I battled with myself and finally felt it would take me forever to finish it.
So got a piece of 22ct material and redid the part that took me 14 days to do and managed to redo them on the 22ct in 4 days.
I feel so much better about the piece now. It is really a beautiful piece with deep rich colors. its called QS Psyche's Butterflies. Deep burgandy, oranges, golds and reds in this piece. Now you can see what I am doing when I am AWOL from Mylot!

Sounds beautiful by the colors. I have only done counted cross stitch twice. Once on a bib and once on a sweatshirt. It is not for me. But, they are beautiful.
I love to embroider, printed cross stitch, quilt, etc.
Have fun.

My sister decorates her kitchen with Chickens. I love to embroider and have done so on pillow cases, table clothes, dresser scarves, kids clothes and baby quilts. It is so easy and quick compared to counted cross stitching. Give me a printed pattern anytime and I am on my way.
Your Mom might have had stronger fingers or pushing power with her fingers than you do. I have jabbed my fingers many times, whether it was from cross stitching or embroidering or even quilting. After while your fingers toughen up.
Enjoy your pattern and your day.
Hugs

I better stick to cross stitching at least they provide the holes in the aida cloth.
Knowing me I would wind up jabbing my fingers and getting blood on my piece. UGH.
I was going to try and make a baby quilt one of the kits that you embroider on but after the chicken ordeal, guess you can say I turned Chicken!

Thanks Marylynn.
My mother in law was into chickens to decorate with.
I could not find a small cross stitch kit (5x7) but finally found one on the printed cross stitch.
I thought OH this will be easier and faster cause it shows me where to put the stitches.
After opening the kit, fixing my floss and needles, I started to make my first stitch. the cloth reminds me of the cross stitch pillow cases my mom used to do.
Girl I think I got 20 stitches done and I was ranting and raving and cursing over this material.
Needless to say, I threw it out and have NEVER went back to that type of material to work on.
I have to take my hat off to anyone that does work on that material.
By the time I stopped both of my fingers were bleeding from trying to get it through the material.
Guess thats why there are so many crafts out there so we can pick and choose.
But now I wonder how my mom did all those pillow cases through the years.
Thanks for sharing!

that is very beautiful, but I'd be going blind on all those reds and pinks!
I was worried about you doing anything on 25 count (I managed 22 count when I was younger - on black) but I probably wouldn't try it now.
I might pick out one of the butterflies and do that on waste canvas on a shirt, that's more my style...

If you need a better photo I can send you a personal message and give you my email and send it to you.
Let me know.
yea the 25 is ok if you like going really slow. I only get an average of 2 to 4 hours a day to stitch so I try to make my time count. Sure can't stitch now with the time change after 5pm. Gets dark to early to enjoy stitching!

I used to buy the Dimensions kits. And there would be open spaces of cloth, and you would have to backstitch all around each intricate piece to bring it to life so to speak.
When I found Mystic Stitch, and Heaven and Earth Designs it is not overwhelming.
I can't hardly make a mistake because you just work on 100 stitches looking at the pattern. Since they are marked 10x10 grids unless coming to a end of page and it may have fewer rows, it is much easier to stitch a larger project than just trying to center it on a piece of aida.
Get to start in the upper left hand corner and just follow the pattern and pages. Lots more relaxing than trying to make sure you counted correctly on other pieces.
Basically is no counting. And the piece is completely filled in making the changes in colors your backstitching so when you are finished stitching it THANK GOD ITS DONE and NO Backstitching.
Good Luck Let me know if you get to use the butterflies.

I think it's great that you were able to get that part done so quickly with the 22ct. I started a 25ct project when I was in the hospital last December and I haven't looked at it since I got out of the hospital. I should probably dig it out one of these days because now I am doing a lot less since I dropped the class I was in because the teacher said she wouldn't grade any late work (23% of the class was late when she said this). I was in the hospital again last week so it was hard to get anything done due to sleeping all day. I just don't like the small holes. Is that one finished now? Have a great weekend!!!
