there is something blocked in the toilet I keep plunging it but I don't have a lot of strength it works for a couples of flushes and then the water rises to the top again. I am so tired of plunging it. It takes what little bit of energy I have out of me.

It remembers me when some months ago my son found some condons in my bedroom, which my husband and don't use, because those condons belongs to a cousin of my husband who forgot that in the suitcase that my husband borrow him,so we never touch it and we don't use condons either, so when my son found that he tooks them and throw them in the toilet because he wants to have a sister or brother and he thought we were using that, after that his bathroom never have work correctly,my husband have bought a lot products to fix it but nothing have worked,so it is a very difficult situation and I understand your feelings, I hope you can find a solution.

This is really annoying and desperate. I think you can pour some chemical that would melt whatever is stuck in there to make it work again.

When our toilet did that my husband had to take up the toilet to see what was causing the blockage..it was messy for sure but it was a piece of glass actually blocking it..strange..but I did have a vase fall off and hit the toilet and break.I had thought I had gotten all the glass but hadn't. Is this something your son can undertake and do?

We found a super type of liquid plumbing stuff that if you aren't on a septic system, you should try - we found it in the "hardware" section of Walmart, but you might try to find it in whatever large hardware store or whatever in your area.

My son once dropped a toy into the toilet, then flushed. It got stuck in there, naturally. My husband had to take the toilet completely off and turn it upside-down in order to pull the toy out. I think your problem will need a plumber unless you happen to have a "snake" that can dislodge whatever it is as long as it's not something totally solid, if it's like a wad of toilet paper that got stuck. It definitely sounds like a clog, not something wrong with the ballcock but you should check that anyway, just to make sure it's closing off the water from the tank when it should. If it's not, replacing a ballcock isn't hard. I've done that myself. It might just be that the plug that closes off the water from going into the bowl has become disconnected from the chain. Check that, too. That's just a matter of hooking the chain back on the plug. Still, it sounds like a clog to me but you should check everything because you never know. I know your landlord doesn't like to fix anything but I think this is something you should let him know about because it really is his responsibility to fix it, even if he won't. Can your son or anyone else help to plunge it? Maybe someone with more strength can get whatever is lodged in there to move on through.

no the chain etc is okay, it is a clog, I am trying to find a friend with a snake but today it seems to be okay so far this is the first time, I hope to god the clog finally disengaged.

Toilets can be such a terror. Ours did the same thing. It even overflowed because we weren't used to this happening and didn't realize it would overflow. We have good maintenance so we called them and they tinker with it a minute and it works fine and has ever since. Thank goodness. I hate plumber problem.

This may sound like a far-fetched idea, but what would happen if you had a high pressure hose, put it down the hole, and blasted whatever it was, to kingdom come? Afterall, the plunger pushes stuff down, so a pressure hose would do the same thing.

That's how my friends toilet was. I visited her once in her in-laws house and used their toilet. I didn't remember throwing anything in there but whatever I do to make it flush the water keeps going up. I am so scared I made it coz when I came in it wasn't full. So I get out of the toilet and told my friend about it. I was relieved when she said something's wrong with the bowl. I think they called a plumber to fix it.
