This is true even if I do not comment on this opinion that most Filipinos does not have discipline among others because they just throw away their trash. My only anger is that why are they doing these things when they already know that it is one the causes of floodings in the city. When rainy season is coming certain portions of the city are already submerge because the canals and drainage systems are already clogged with lots of garbage from residents and passer-byes.I keep on telling most people to stop their bad habbits of just throwing away their rubbishes, but they just gave me an angry look to just mind my own business.I do not know how to make them throw their garbage at a proper place so that it could not end in the already clog esteros and canals. Can anyone give me a great solution to solve this problem?

Actually this problem cannot ever be solved if all the people will not cooperate, just as you narrated. Perhaps, it would be better if the government or officials for every place could impose penalties to those places found to have lots of rubbish. That way, those stubborn people will learn a hard lesson. Hence, everybody will also be on the look out of each others' rubbish.

I just could not understand anymore how to address my own countrymen the ways they obey rules or ways they like to live with all garbage just thrown anywhere they like to disposed it.They just realized the importance of proper waste disposal when a strong typhoon hit our area that many people are afraid of the high level of flood and discovered that clogged drainage systems need cleaning to let the flood waters just flow freely in the system. They are already aware not to throw any garbage but that was only for several days and there goes their bad habits.

And i have observed berting, that it is the poor people who seem not to be following what is advocated to be done. Have you noticed those living by the esteros? They are the ones who are throwing these garbages to the river. Thus, when continuous rain comes, they are the ones first and directly affected by it. I really hope they will be relocated somewhere else and that they be strictly monitored as how they dispose of their garbage.

They are not just only ones I have observed violating our anti littering law but almost all levels of society.Try to go to the mall and observe what all sorts of people are doing in the outside vicinity.I think you can really say that almost all of us are hard headed,no disciplinary manners because the throwing of just anythings can be seen and even you could just imagine how cruel these people yet they have a decent home and well cleaned surrounding. Why did they all made our surroundings a trash area with lots of flies and other insects to mention in the vicinity.

I admire your decision to keep your surroundings clean and I hope our countrymen could emanate from your good deeds.I do not want to experience again another dangerous flash floods in the future due to the rampant throwing of garbage among our fellow Filipinos.I wish they learn to love our environment by keeping it clean and no more garbage in the surroundings.

Same thing in my country. I think the problem is that most of them come from a village then migrate to a city. while in the village they usually consume a natural food such as banana, manggo then they threw away the seed and skin, and by natural process the garbage they left turns into a natural fertilizer, then the people move to the city where all food are wrapped with a plastic, and yet they still do the same thing, eat the food and throw away the garbage, but because this time it was a plastic, then it cause trouble. We cannot educate adult to learn something new, i think the best we can do is teach their children not to behave like their parents, because kids can learn new things, unlike adult...

Self discipline is the answer to all these problems because these people needs some sort of natural disaster to devastate their place before they realized what is good done in good housekeeping and what is done by just throwing anywhere.

I partly disagree with you. I live in Makati, Salcedo Village and is very hard to find rubbish or trash there but if you are talking about other places, I think it has to do with the city council not been strict enough on how people should throw their wastes. There are cities that you cannot throw cabbage or trash on the way. Otherwise you will be arrested or fined. If strict rules are implemented, those ignorant people will be forced to do the right thing.

You maybe right with your opinion yet Makati is just a part of the country and the most hard headed are mostly passers-bye by throwing their rubbishes just anywhere they go.They just do not realized how badly it affects our ecosystem because our drainage system would be clogged with their garbage. They are not ignorant but they are just lazy ones to pick up their garbage.

Hi berting! I am a Filipino and I am proud to be one ^_^ This problem is not concentrated here in our country. All over the world, there are garbage everywhere. It is not about nationality, everyone (at every corner of the earth) has his own misdoings at times. I, for one, admit of being irresponsible at certain situations. Nonetheless, I think the solution is not going to fall from the sky. We need to start with ourselves. I vow not be an irresponsible citizen anymore. I could only hope that by doing so, people around me will follow. If the leaders of our country cannot take the lead, then we, the citizens must initiate the lead the nation. After all, our country will not move forward unless we start moving forward. Nice to bump into a fellow Filipino in here! ^_^

Thank you very much my friend that you care for our benefit to have a clean environment. Some of our countrymen like to eat in the passenger jeep then just throw away their rubbish after they consume their foods. They are unaware that many people are watching their bad habits of just throwing anywhere. When a typhoon damage our place they just blame the government for not giving enough help to people who are near drowning due to flooding. They must bear in their minds that all of these are to be blame by their bad habits. They must do good housekeeping.

I am not perfect as to say but clean living is a healthy way to have a healthy life. We can feel the freshness of the air when we go out and not see garbage anymore in the corner of your house. We can enjoy the cleanliness of our surroundings without fear that there are rubbishes there left by passers-bye.I wish that would become of our environment.
