delay on home improvement program

I just realized that my home improvement program exceed from early schedule and kinda exceed the budget as well. It's about 3 weeks late. Actually,nothing wrong with the contractor but my expectation is changing every time I observed something. First plan is add one room but now becomes two, plan no coating but now coating for whole house. I just thinking that doing home improvement or renovation is not something we can do anytime so I increase my loan to get more budget as well..How about you? Do you experience the same thing? How to prevent not to happened?

I learned a long time ago not to spend more than what I have. I have seen people (including a close friend that I had to have at my house for some months) who lost everything because they got into debt by spending more. If I have enough money to build one room, I might draw the blueprints for 2 rooms, but do only one. It is always up to you.
