Next Thursday I am going to a Christmas party. We are going to eat the traditional Danish christmas food like roasted pork, red cabbage, caramelised potates and risalamande (a rice pudding) for dessert.
After the dinner we will play a game. The game lasts half an hour and we all try to win some of the small gifts on the table. When all of the gifts are gone we are allowed to steal gifts from eachother. It is usually a lot of fun especially when we start stealing from eachother
Do you have any games that you usually play around Christmas time?

Well, my family likes to have ham and potatoes for Christmas, and if we can get a hold of them, tamales.

Are you okay with spending Christmas Eve at your mother-in-law?

Ham and potatoes sound delicious. What are tamales?

That sounds nice. I like the idea of mixing different kinds of food. We don't have many decorations this year, and we don't have a christmas tree either, but we have bought a christmas tree for my mother-in-law. We are going celebrate Christmas Eve at her place.

During our family reunions, we play different kinds of games but I can't say they're Christmas games. Those are games that're just created on the spot by my aunts for the kids, and some for the adults. As for games specially made for Christmas, I don't think we have those.

I guess my family is different from yours, because we are not good at creating games on the spot, we tend we play the same year after year
One of them is the present game that I wrote about, another popular christmas game is bingo that we usually play at my uncle's. My cousin usually wins most of presents.

Yeah, I know how to play Bingo. I don't think it's exclusive for Christmas, though.

No, it not only a christmas game, but it is especially popular around that time in my country and many families play bingo when they have a christmas party. My father hates it. One time when we were at my uncle's he knew we were going to play bingo and he told my aunt that he was going for a walk. It was an excuse to avoid the bingo game, but my aunt said: "That is great idea, lets all go for a walk and then we can play bingo when we return" I guess my father's strategy to avoid the game didn't work
