A few days back, one of the costumers of my mother-in-law in her eatery/store, was complaining because his viand, a grilled/roasted fish, was missing. And my mother-in-law didn't know what to do except to give him another one. then She shared it to me, then I was puzzled, and I suggested that I would try to observe the surroundings in here eatery. the next day i was there just looking around. While my mother-in-law was about to prepare a fish dish, she was called by my father. then when she left, I started walking around. Then I saw a cat, just slowing walking and with it's mouth a whole fish. I was thinking maybe I'm just seeing things, why is there a cat here? then when I looked at the fish that my mother-in-law was preparing, it was gone, and when i looked back to the cat, it was gone as well. I told my mother-in-law about it, then she knew who the owner of that cat was so she talked to the owner and hopefully she doesn't get "fish-napped" again :)

The cat stealing the whole fish! Such a lucky cat but not lucky for MIL's business
Not sure if it will be stopped by the cat owner as you know cats in our country normally roams around and just comes back when it wants to eat on lunch and dinner or whenever it likes to go home. I think it's also best that there is someone who would shoo it away everyday. Once the cat knows that she won't get anything and someone will always shoo her away, it will go look for other places where she can get some food.

I don't think it's such a good idea putting the cat in chain
And I guess the eatery he's saying is the usual one we have here that has its windows always open. It's not like those airconditioned restaurants.

Enelym is right, its one of those open eateries. chaining the cat would be a bit cruel but keeping an eye on the surrounding will be better and just shoo away the cat.
I told my mother-in-law to always to secure her stuff so that things like this won't happen again

It's a usual scenery here in the Philippines that's why you might see a native basket hanging from the ceiling. But it is far better than having rats/mouse snatching our food in the kitchen, that would be far more gross and the disease that it may bring is quite unbearable to think. It would always better to put food in the proper storage!

I'm sure your Mother in law didn't appreciate the cat stealing her fish & most likely didn't see this as funny, but I couldn't help laughing as I read your discussion. In my mind I am seeing this cat with a fish hanging out of it's mouth. That's just too funny....LOL
