the difference ,i said, is not just the physical strength, but the way they think, the things they do,the rules they obey.ect...
it's two days before my friend's gonna join the army in Hongkong. she said she's gonna change, and i asked why she's so sure about that.she answered, life there is so different from that outside, there're a series of rules which seemed abnormal and unreasonable that she has to obey,,,and there will be many things unpleasant to do , and the senior officer would be so strict to new sodiers during the military training. everyday training may change her via controling her thoughts gradually, she said she may become dull and inflexibleafter she had done two-year-serving the army.
"first i'll hate the rule then i get used to it,it has invaded my body, then i depend on that--that's institutinalized-"
i really have no idea about military life,i wish she could be strong to make it through. i wonder if there's something new that we don't know at present. when she entered, she'll found more meaningful things to her life...not just the rule ,the institution thing~~~

Hi Leocen. Joining the Army during basic training and the MOS (training you will be working in) can be stressful if you let it.
The military is trying to make sure you have what it takes mentally and physically and emotionally to get through the training. It teaches you to learn to think for yourself and as we all know we depended on our parents and this gives us the chance to learn through a platoon on a group of people accepting and assisting each other, knowing when to back off and let you learn on your own indvidually, and all in all rounds you out to a very confidant person.
I went in and learned about other cultures, and actually learned to have feelings and admiration for other countries and cultures.
Sounds like your friend is growing up and let her know from one Army girl to another I wish her much success.
I remember being in Basic. I took each day as a new one and when the stess and struggles would get to rough I would just start laughing. I finally realized that laughter was much better than letting the platoon or my First Sgt get to me. So I would turn a bad few minutes into laughter and sometimes you had to do this several times a day.
They are trying to break you because they need and want the best.
You just have to beat them at their own game and everything turns out ok.
