As my friends know, Ivan was hit by a car and killed when he was allowed outside to potty. Well, Rosie has had some accidents in the house, because she doesn't know yet how to ask to go out. We take her out and she doesn't go, but comes in the house in the kitchen and does it. We got some potty pads, and I noticed where she used one of the pads. We have 3 in the kitchen and 2 on the other side of my daughter's and SIL's bed. So far now she hasn't made any boo boos in the house. She has used the potty pads, and I'm so happy that she has. Rosie is such a sweetheart. Do you have any potty stories about your dog or cat that you would like to share?

I was relieved when I got Annabelle that it wasn't long before she learned to go on the puppy pads. It's a lot less of a headache!

You got that right Amber. Our Rosie is good about using the pads. She really gets it! She wouldn't use newspaper that good.. we tried. So it is a good investment to use the puppy pads.

When one of our dogs (Pudge) was a puppy he was injured and had to remain in his kennel for 3 weeks. The vet said to only let him out every 20 minutes to go outside to go potty. Needless to say in the 3 weeks time, he was potty trained.

So sorry your dog had to stay in his kennel for so long. I can understand why since he was injured. Our Rosie hates her kennel. She has a large crate with a nice pillow pad. She just barks, cries and howls when she has to go in there. She sleeps with her mom and dad now. She has separation anxiety.

Rosie looks so cute and trim now. A lot of people let their Bassetts get too chubby and they are at risk. I used those little pads when training several of my dogs. They help a whole lot. I had to start moving them to different places and decrease the number when I was trying to train the dog to go outside. Eventually the pads were just used for when the dog was going to be in the house for an extended period of time while I was at work. Sometime I had 12 hr. shifts so the pads were most useful. Good luck with your training.

Sh has been very good about using the pads. That is great you have a fenced in yard and a doggie door. I wish we could do that but we don't own our house and don't have the funds to do that.

I put my comment in the wrong box. The one that I put above is the one for this box. I'm glad to hear how you and your big dog were able to train that pup.
