Why do many people keep on thinking the world is ending time?

I only know that God is the only One who knows when the world could end yet why are these people keep on making these prediction a front story?I am just praying that this could not come to our planet and even the harsh catastrophes we could be protected by His heavenly graces.I am a pious person and I hope that earth would never be ending like this meteor colliding predictions or some tropical storms and earthquakes. We must just pray and ask for the forgiveness of all our sins so that these phenomenon would be erased and only happiness and peace would be seen and be felt in this world.
