Well, as predicted in my Family Wedding discussion....I was right. Llanview's Statesville Prison had a raid and those escaped....Cole Thornheart, who headed right for Starr, Troy whatever, who headed right for Nora and Mitch Lawrence who headed right for Natalie. Good grief, couldn't they have done better for the shows final days? Don't close it down on a sweet and endearing note, but bring the violance from the past back and let that be the last we viewers see! What a disgrace...what a horrible way to end an era in TV history.
Although I don't believe low viewers as being the reason the show is being cancelled in 2 weeks (or thereabouts)as the networks have said, I do think that if viewers stopped watching...it wasn't cause they are now out in the work force (with unemployment at record high? Yeah, right!) as networks proclaimed, It is because they play the same storylines over and over and just continue bringing people back from the past (and the dead!) and just continue with the same old stories!!!
I have no ambition to watch the final days of this show I have been watching since 1970! Why? I've seen it all before! WOn't surprise me if they bring back Victor Lord...yet again from the dead....show his living and sinister face in the final seconds of the final episode....
Why couldn't they have tied up loose ends and ended the show on a high note?

One reason they got stuck with this mess at the end is because the show was supposed to continue on the Internet. But now that that deal is off, we get stuck with this mess as an ending. All that Internet deal did was cause two long running soaps to go out with unsatisfactory ends rather than the ones that they and their fans deserved. If ABC(and their parent company Disney) had any respect for their audiences and viewers, they would make a couple of movies to put proper and satisfactory endings to the shows.

This is why I never saw ABC daytime soaps! NBC's Days and CBS' Guiding Light have had some silly storylines but for the most part the storylines were based on true family issues. Guiding Light ended with happy endings all around.Hell even All My Children had a minor cliffhanger but for the most part the storylines ended happily! I was only seeing On Life To Live because it was going to end. Now? I don't think I will see the end either.

Well the term - Go out with a bang instead of with a whimper - springs to mind. The fact that these soaps are ending is bad enough. That they don't give them proper ending makes it worse. You said it ended in two weeks hopefully they can resolve all the issues by then. Just take a deep breath and maybe tape it and watch it in fast forward until something good happens.

OLTL had a weekend marathon this past weekend and it was about 8 shows from the past. That was a really good idea (oldest one was 1988 - and a favorite storyline of mine!) It was fun to see everyone from "back then" (boy, them men had the hair!) And that was a nice send off...but this current story...just to much for an finale. Make everyone get married or put families back together but having all the jail birds escape...for the upteenth time...we are so tired of that!! It is on right now, and I am here on MyLot...I have been watching since 1970...what's that tell you!
