The good news is that in 2012, we will continue to read Wikipedia, and some of us even write, adding voices and possibly correcting existing ones in 282 languages??. This is happening from 11 years.
They are in fact users, who want it, putting their money (apart from the big offer of co-founder Sergey Brin of Google with $ 500,000), to save Wikipedia with the "micro donations" often $ 5, and there are many took to get to the remarkable sum of 20 million dollars. All this for the largest and free online encyclopedia.
The numbers speak for themselves:
- 6 th most visited site in the world
- 20 million entries in total
- 282 languages
- 480 million unique users per month
Regarding the discussion of the strike, it seems to be started on 23 January. Why? Simple: because in America they would like to introduce laws that make the Internet more controlled and therefore less free.
In all modes, the founder Jimmy Wales has opened a page on Wikipedia where he listed all the elements of the measure, an idea to get informed, and contribute to the decision.
