i don't just give things away specially appliances like TV, computer , computer monitor. if they are still working well, i won't give away things like computer monitor even if i have other computer monitor to use, i will just have them at home . maybe in the future i will have a need for them. i have this small monitor that are just in the shelf. someone is asking if i still need it. i say i would still need one day. although i would like to help other people but still i don't have much money . so in case the monitor i am using now would have problem i would have spare monitor i can use right away.

I am doing the same thing as you do. Keeping old things in the house in case some day need these.I understand how you are thinking because i think the same. I only give things for free when i really will not need these.

I tend to keep all of my old appliances to the very end. Until they absolutely stop working. I find that a lot of people tend to spend a bit too much money to replace things that really still have plenty of life right on them. And like you said, even if I do get a new one, you never know when it might not work as planned and you need a backup for whatever reason.
So yeah, if they still work, then they are still usable. Therefore, they are going to be something that I am going to be able use to say the very least. So indeed, I would never give away something that I still use. Then again, its not like I have many old appliances, but I tend to either use it or pitch it when it stops working. That's just the way things go.
