Is it Deja Vu, or Do We Have Memories of Another Time?

Just curious if anyone else experiences this from time to time - when you see something, hear, or even touch or smell something that evokes a strong memory in you that you can't quite place - that feeling of it being familiar yet you don't recognize it all at the same time? I can be somewhere and suddenly smell something that takes me some place I've never been - or haven't been in a long time. For instance, where wse lived until moving six months ago, one morning I was at my computer. It was in the living room like I have it here. The day was chilly, yet the sun was streaming through the window, and suddenly, I had a sense of being on the beach, laying on the sand, listening to the waves lap at the shore....it was so strong I almost believed I was there for a few moments...and then it was gone. It's a weird feeling and hard to explain!

There are times where I wonder if there are not memories that I have been having from a past life. Mostly there have been times where I feel like that this is a rather realistic situation that I am experiencing in a dream. It is almost like it is something that I have experienced to say the very least. Yet, I know none of these people, but in a way I cannot help but think that I should. Then again, there are a lot of times where our mind will flash back to any number of things. A lot is going to really occur in our lives, but perhaps there is much that is going to occur in our past lives. We are going to think that this is something that we feel like we experienced before. Perhaps we have or perhaps it is another time. Or perhaps it is one of the many complex of the human mind.

reminds me a lot of the series Fringe - with it's alternate Universes and such - makes you wonder. I've always wondered, too, about people who literally disappear off the face of the earth - if somehow the fell in to a wormhole or something...

thats called deja vu. it happens to me all the time and i stand stunned for sometime not able to believe why am feeling like i have experienced. its all about nature. it produces various energies. not energy actually, some kind of vibe., and sometimes we feel like we have experienced these vibes or circumstances. deja vu is a very weird and special feeling

perhaps it's part of what Carl Jung called the collective consciousness? Something familiar to us all?

In a way I have this happen. I always have flashbacks triggered by mainly the seasons and the air out side. I will randomly remember and flash back to times long ago it makes me a little nostalgic sometimes. I have never had a memory of somewhere I have. Never been though

that makes sense. It's strange how the outdoors - the air - and seasons - can trigger this in some people, myself included. I'm not one who looks backwards, so it's more of a feeling than a regret - like a feeling/memory all in one - familiar and yet not always....
