Young and the Restless......
I just watched todays episode again...last 20 minutes. VERY exciting. However, it caught my attention...when Ronan and Paul were talking to Deacon....Deacon's story is that he "cleaned" up the evidence around the crime scene to protect Niki. Okay, fine, if he was so intent on protecting Niki...why'd he leave her there on the bench? Why didn't he at least take her back to her car or check her into a hotel or something? Why on the bench in the dark in the park...alone? And why leave her in the blouse with blood on it? That kind of protection I think I can do without!
Plus if he was so intent on protecting her...why'd he keep the evidence? why'd he hide it? why didn't he just dump it some place? I mean okay on the film maybe, but the syringe? And what about the key that was down her throat..they never did say who put that there...Deacon or Patty?

I was really invested in the story when I thought they would finally reveal a killer, I knew it would be difficult to convict one of the regular cast, Nikki/Victor/Victoria etc because they would have leaked that they were leaving the show. They could have commited the murder and there be a kind of cover up. So I was more convinced that maybe Deacon did it - not quite true to character but in soaps everything is possible - or more likely Patty or a third party, maybe a shady character she owed money to. The writers were always seeming to change their minds by planting evidence that never even seemed to come into the final story, the questions about Deacon are just another lot of questions to add to an already long list of unanswered questions. Well the story isn't really over, so who knows maybe there are still some reveals? Only time will tell.

I know that in soaps often they write the story and then figure out who the criminal is, that way if one of the actors has tough contract negotiations they can always pin it on them and work out the reason after. The fact that the actors have to play it both ways also leads to false suspects, because the actors don't know they play it both as the innocent and the guilty. Case in point, Deacon and that scarf thing - trying to strangle Nikki when she was finding evidence, even though all he wanted to do was protect her or so he says - makes no sense ah!!

Oh yeah...there's always something going on there. Those are kind of the fun places I like to watch to find clues and discrepencies.

You have to remember Deacon is always about himself. Even if he didn't have anything at that exact moment that he wanted taken care of, but having said that, he is all about being center of attention.
All he wanted was something that put him in the situation. Remember he has been dangling this carrot for a while now.

Oh, I know. He did that to hold it over Niki's head so she'd stay with him. But at the same time...how'd he know when to be at the park that night? He was working and just took off "an hour" or so and then back to work as his alibi. Why did he even go to the park that night?

We may never know all the details since the writers may not know. Like if Patty made the pillows, how did she get Abby's confession tape to be able to put it in one of the pillows? If you say she got it because she had the key and got it from what the key fit and thus she was the one who put the key in Diane's throat, how did she know about the key or the tape to begin with?

Good questions. I think Deacon had a bit more to do with it than he is saying as they have that tape of him and Diane in bed together. Maybe he got it from her then...and maybe she had something on him. Or maybe Deacon and Patty were in cahoots! Yeah, we still have more answers to find! THis is hte part I enjoy....
