How professional is your office environment?

Is your office a very professional place were everyone works as team and helps each other hand in hand, everyone is respectful to each other and everyone gets along well. or is your office like Survivor were everyone is having alliances and stabbing each other's back. In other words its a food chain or a swimming pool of piranhas.
How is your working environment? is it a relaxed environment were you can enjoy do what you are doing or is it a crazy chaotic Jungle with lots of drama or is it a boring depressing routineous environment?
Is your office a heaven, a purgatory or a hell on earth?
How was your office?

The office where I used to work before is a nice place to be where everybody's working harmoniously. My office mates are supportive and helpful specially when I am just new in the office. But things changed a bit when the new manager came in because we want our former manager to stay in our branch while the new manager wants to bring her people in our branch! haha
So what happened next is, there's a complete reshuffle in the office, but the new manager keeps me. Maybe because I am just new that time, I don't know. At first its not comfortable but as time pass by, I was able to cope with the new environment with the new co employees, well its a good thing that they are also good people who's working professionally. So all in all I have worked in a very professional or rather homey working environment.

I hope the new people I will work with will be civilized and not some savage backstabbing jealous and immature blabbermouths. I hope this around I can feel that I have authority.

Hiya Captain
Is your office a heaven, a purgatory or a hell on earth?
The offices here in India are all a mix of all these. The only thing important - how you see it and blend with the ambiance. Sometimes, you find good colleagues and most of the times, they are professional. But things start getting awry once you start getting personal with any of your team or colleagues.

I hope the people I will work with in my new shift will be professionals, I would love to work with people who are not "high schoolers" in an adults body. I felt like a Highschool teacher working with those people.

Heaven it is. We have teammates who fall out of the standards due to some inefficiencies but we dont gang up on them nor do we stab each other's backs. In our office, it is a "Cover Each As"es Policy." You cant find that much of professionalism anywhere. In fact, this is one of the best things that I thank God over and over again. Office is a second family to me. I have heard horrible stories on other companies where there is back-stabbing, domineering seniors and even on lazy and sleazy people.
We just had a new CEO this year. We are all looking forward on how he handles the overall operations. He came from UK and this he promised us, "Let us all focus on growth. Unlike the previous CEOs, they have used PHL as a stepping stone to Singapore. I dont have those intentions, in fact, i and my family intend to stay."

If my company is only family like but it wasnt, if my office is a family then it can be disfunctional family were parents are having divorce. Cos this office is chaotic. I wonder how its like to work with people who are mature, not greedy, not jelous and not selfish.

The office I used to work for was similar to Survivor. There were two political factions one pro management and the other against. There were alliances and back stabbing because the higher management encourages that kind of office scenario. They want to have eyes everywhere in order to know what is going on for fear that that the other managers may be doing "something" when their backs are turned. They encourage employees to talk against their respective managers and this has certainly affected employee morale and self esteem. Many fear resignation because of age inspite of the fact that they are no longer at ease with the environment. I am just too glad I was able to get out in time. Being in HR is one very unwelcome position when faced with political issues. Being on middle ground becomes a very difficult position. Nonetheless, the online jobs right now provide me with the peace and quiet I deserve after being in purgatory for quite sometime. My experiences have made me wary of accepting similar positions that have lately been offered.

I am telling you my office is like a reality show too. I'm so sick of the alliances going on cos seriously there is no million dollars at stake and no one will get voted off... For sure an office should be a place for people who acts civilized but its becoming a jungle full of jelousy and hate. The office always looks clean and organize but you can smell the stench of being unprofessional of people there. Its all about self preservation.
