This story happens more than twenty years ago. It is about my neighbor's dog. Most of the houses at the place where my family used to live were made of wood. To make matters worse, the houses were built very close to each other. This is the typical way houses are built in a small village. On that fated day, fire broke out and more than twenty houses were burnt down. The last house was my neighbor's house. They had a dog. A very old and loyal dog. According to my sister, when the fire broke out, the family and owner of the dog were busy trying to save whatever item in the house they could. Everybody was busy carrying things and running in and out before the fire engulfed the whole house. Even the dog tried to save itself by running away from the fire. But the dog later, thinking that its master was still in the house, got worried and quickly returned to its master house. Then, the house came down. The dog got itself stucked inside and the fire burned it to death. Poor dog. My heart is really touched by this story. Such a loyal dog...what a gift from God. I sometimes wonder do dogs go to heaven because sometimes they seem to be more human than a real human being. No wonder they say, Dogs are men's bestfriend!

Hi micha: That's a lovely story but at least according to my believes, animals don't have a soul. They have feelings but they are not so deep. The dog just react as pets who are adapted to their lives with the people around there that give them food and love would do. But don't worry, even if dogs won't go to heaven he is now resting in peace.

Poor dog
. Dogs were often buried in the same necropolis than human during the Roman Empire. It is the animal the most associated with catholic saints, but I can't say if animals are going or not to paradise -- a domesticated dog has no or very little free will, so it cannot commit a sin and be judged like an human --. If there is a place for one animal, it is certainly a dog.
