When I was young, around high school age, a friend took me water skiing with his family on a local lake. They tried to teach me how to water ski. I very quickly learned that my natural instincts were all wrong for the sport. One is supposed to lean back and thus keep their feet and the skis in front of them and have the rope from the boat pull them. Well my instincts were to lean forward. I could get up from the water on the skis just fine but once up, I couldn't managed to go very far because I would then tend to lean forward and would fall.

You were probably more coordinated than I would have been!
