Bird migration

Well, here in NYC it seems like all the pigeons stick around all year round. I remember when I was small, the pigeons seemed to run or fly away when someone went near them. Now they seem to be annoyed and not move. It is amazing how some birds go south while others stay. I guess it depends on the type of bird.

at my work we have a covered fire escape that has a swallows nest half way up the stairs. every year the same pair of swallows come to raise their young, sometimes two broods depending on how good a summer we have. it amazes me that a bird that can fit comfortable inside your hand can navigate from Africa all the way to the same nest every year. i think the most amazing part of it is that they would want to leave the warmth of Africa and come to dreary wet Scotland! maybe swallows have a thing for ginger men in kilts.

Just see how smart are birds flying in the sky , sensing cold weather they fly to wamer places so that they can protect themselves from cold weather around but I always wonder how do they know about warmer countries and places they fly to. Hare Krishna Gansesh

Hi shaggin... Some birds wish to live in cold climate and some in hot climate, the find the direction from the wind where they can be comfortable to migrate. you may say it is their instinct that they can predict where there desire climate is available, i mean in which direction? Have a nice time.

I agree that bird migration is really amazingg. Birds are so smart as they can sense and tell when it is time to migrate to a warmer place ...

Its right many birds are already gaieb from the world. Because global warming. Like sparrow bird which a step ahed to migration.
