A Snow Blast Out of the Past

Wow! Yesterday on the first day of March, was very unsual. With all of the snow-less days in January & Feburary, we finally get the biggest snow storm of the whole season right here in Albany, NY! 6 inches in one day! I hated it. It turned wet snow by 1 which is the time I went out & shoveled. It was like a typical day in Winter 2011. This was a blast out of the past, this 1st day of March. No neighbor was around to snowblow my driveway like usual, it reminded me of one day last year when I had to shovel the over 5 inch snow that had turned hard because I waited too long by exercising inside to get ready to lift it. It was a good thing I did! That snow was so heavy that I couldn't even use the long shovel to push it far! I had to use the back saver throw-up shovel to do it 1 by 1 1/2 foot worth, at a time (the length & width of the shovel). It took longer but it was the only way to do it. I bent my knees & not my back, but it really was a strain on my arms. It was so heavy! This reminded me of last year one day in Feb. that it was a snow blast out of the past! It took me an hour and 20 min. to do most of it before collapsing to take a lunch break of soup, tortilla chips & raisins. I completed the whole driveway in an hour & a half, totaling up to 2.50 hrs. just like the day last year. My arms & especially my knees ached the rest of the day & the next. My ached a bit but I did some back exercises that took care of that. All in all, it was one day out of a nice winter season, but it was hell & I'm glad it's over - for now. I hope another day will not come again until next winter!
