Vlad Tepeš was a real person, and vas very much like Count dracula(he was a warlord and did not mind to kill),but Stoker only used him for his book, and made up the rest of the story

Yes, it was more than a myth, also a real person indeed. And the very first appearance of "Count Dracula" is in Bram Stoker's novel DRACULA (1897). But Stoker did not make up the name "Dracula". There was a Dracula in the 15th century: Vlad the Impaler. Stoker didn't know much about him (most probably) but he came across his name in a book he was researching entitled AN ACCOUNT OF THE PRINCIPALITIES OF WALLACHIA AND MOLDAVIA (1820). This book has a very short section on a "Voivode Dracula" who fought against the Turks. What attracted Stoker to the name "Dracula" was a footnote by Wilkinson which stated that "Dracula in the Wallachian language means devil". Not quite accurate, but that is what Stoker saw and copied into his notes. He was originally going to call his vampire "Count Wampyr" but changed it to "Count Dracula." This change is clearly made in Stoker's own notes for DRACULA which are located at the Rosenbach Museum in philadelphia. The real Dracula (about whom we know much more than Stoker ever did) was NOT a Count, nor was he a vampire (or ever associated with vampires). The two Draculas have become greatly confused in many people's minds.

Why would I be scared of something that is not real? I am sure it is possible to drink blood everyday, but don't worry it is not a normal thing.

I think dracula exists only in stories and films .He was not a real person.

There was a Transylvanian nobleman who helped defeat Saracen invaders into Europe. His name was Vlad Dracul and he used to impale defeated enemies on sharpened poles. His name was Vlad The Impaler and his bloodthirsty exploits may have led him to being linked with the legends of blood-drinking vampires!

Sounds like you've done your research. good job!

no, i don't think that it was real, but the vampire/dracula caracter was inspired by Vlad Tepes, a leader from Romania, witch was very cruel.
look what i've found on wikipedia.org:
"Historical places connected to Vlad Tepes are publicised under a Dracula theme catering largely, but not entirely, to foreign markets. Bran Castle, which has only a very tangential connection with the historical Vlad Tepes, now exaggerates that connection and promotes itself as "Dracula's Castle". A dungeon-themed disco, catering to a mostly Romanian crowd and located in the basement of a former inn immediately adjacent to the Curtea Veche ("Old Court") — one time site of Vlad Tepes's castle in Bucharest — calls itself by the English-language name "Impaler".
More than anything else, Vlad III Tepes is known for his exceeding cruelty. Impalement was Tepes's preferred method of torture and execution. His method of torture was a horse attached to each of the victim's legs as a sharpened stake was gradually forced into the body. The end of the stake was usually oiled, and care was taken that the stake not be too sharp; else the victim might die too rapidly from shock. Normally the stake was inserted into the body through the anus and was often forced through the body until it emerged from the mouth. However, there were many instances where victims were impaled through other bodily orifices or through the abdomen or chest. Infants were sometimes impaled on the stake forced through their mother's chests. The records indicate that victims were sometimes impaled so that they hung upside down on the stake.
As expected, death by impalement was slow and painful. Victims sometimes endured for hours or days. Vlad often had the stakes arranged in various geometric patterns. The most common pattern was a ring of concentric circles in the outskirts of a city that constituted his target. The height of the spear indicated the rank of the victim. The corpses were often left decaying for months.
Thousands were often impaled at a single time. 10,000 were impaled in the Transylvanian city of Sibiu (where Vlad the Impaler had once lived) in 1460. The previous year, on Saint Bartholomew's Day (in August), Vlad the Impaler had 30,000 of the merchants and officials of the Transylvanian city of Brasov that were breaking his authority impaled. One of the most famous woodcuts of the period shows Vlad the Impaler feasting amongst a forest of stakes and their grisly burdens outside Brasov, while a nearby executioner cuts apart other victims."

so the blood sucking vampire is not real, but a cruel prince of Romania was the inspiration for bram stockers story. nice, right? good luck and have a nice day on mylot!

I am not scared of vampires as I have never been threatened by one.
I'm sure if you wanted to drink blood you could but eating a balanced diet woud then depend on the lifestyle of your prey - you could catch something or get malnourished.
I am curious as to whether you loose weight if you are turned because I could do with loosing a few pounds.

myLot reputation of 72/100. Willowlady (8982)  4 years ago

speaking of lifestyle of your prey, heavier people carries an extra mile of blood vessels for every extra pount so it would seem the heavier folk would be in danger..like a shark that bites a human,,usually spits them out with damage since they are thinner atletics swimmer not like a juicy seal. not sure what transformation would occur if we could become the visitors of the night. Not sure if stomach acids would neutralize bad things in bloodstream.
