After reading the long discussion about the same discussion same title, a question just popped out from my mind, why copy cats?? not dogs or rats? or elephant? Why CATS?? Is there some hidden story behind it? Cats are so sweet and cuddly. I haven't seen a cat copying or mimicking something. They tend to act like a sexy animal. I find this weird. Behind the sweetness of a cat? Why they are being stuck on this statement, this adjective? Well, its like hotdog. Hotdog has a history. And so I wanna know, if there's anybody here who knows the story behind it. Or whatever that comes to your mind. A wide hypothesis is accepted. ha ha ha ha.. :P

Hmm, I cannot give you a wide hypothesis, but according to my findings from the internet, the term first was used by Sarah Orne Jewett in "The Country of Pointed Firs". The term might have originated from the behavior of tiny kittens imitating their mother's every move. Nice question by the way. :P

Wow. .thanks for the info. Well, I haven't heard about that story before. I thought it came from a Filipino movie. Where one of the actress said "You're nothing but a second great trying hard copy cat" .
