Been playing around in iMovie trying something new by adding photos to my videos

It's my first attempt at this. Unfortunately the sound didn't come out as well as I'd hoped. I had done multiple voiceovers in addition to what the camera picked up as I shot. I'm going to have to practice more until I can learn to get the voice overs right. What hints might some of you have on doing voiceovers in iMovie? Also, has anyone figured out how to remove music playing in the background from a video without deleting the sound you want there? I do numerous interviews with artists at Studios on the Park, and there is always loud copyrighted music in the background unless I request they turn it down (not appreciated.) The music is not only annoying, but it can also get the video removed if the copyrighted music is too noticeable. I wish I knew how to lower the music volume without losing the interview.
If you'd like to see this first attempt, which is a video of a walk around my property, complete with deer, irises and sunsets, here's a link to it on HubPages. I'm trying to publish more videos directly there now in stead of to YouTube. http://wannabwriter.hubpages.com/video/Sights-and-Sounds-on-An-Evening-Walk-on-My-West-Templeton-Property-In-May
