She treat too well to my husband

We have just rent a new room. Our room is beside the main house. The household is an old woman. She's about 70 years old. But she looks healthy and strong.
She usually go to the coffee bar in front of her house on morning. My husband is too. She talks to my husband much. She usually pay the coffee for him. He doesn't know why she treats too well to him?! He feels be shy about this!
My husband said that he'll look for a good time to repay her the cost of coffee.
Do you think he's right? Should he be shy because he's treated too well?

No, my friend :) How I can have jealous with an old woman like that. I and my husband only don't know why she too well with my husband.

She may be offended if he pays her for the coffee, unless he buys her something and just drops it off at her home. She probably just thinks of him as her son. Maybe he reminds her of someone else. I would feel uncomfortable also, but I'm sure she doesn't want to make him feel that way and is just being nice.

I think so. Maybe we'll choose a suitable occasions to give her a gifts. I think she likes my husband because he likes her sons when they were young !

May be this old landlord is treating your husband as an adopted son and she is missing her family who can accompany her to chat.
To avoid such confusing situation, your husband can have his meal or drink at other places.
Sometimes, your husband can have his turn to pay for her too if they are having drinks or meals at the mentioned place together.
For me, I shall straight way tell her to go dutch because your husband and your landlord will have their drinks or meals very often at the same place and at the same time.
