Python for Android app developement

I have been interested in android app developement for awhile now. Now that I have an android phone I would slowly begin learning app developement. I am familiar with python programing language. I have read that python is one of the languages that is used for app building. What I am wondering is these two things. The first is, Are there any books solely on the developement of android apps. The second thing that I am wondering is, Are there any python apps for the android phone. If there is not then that is okay.
