I had told in my discussion of 25th May 2012, Petrol price hike http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2662702.aspx?p=0 The price rise per liter of petrol is 7.50 rupees suddenly, all say this is the highest ONE TIME rise in last 50 years; earlier there were several hikes but at steps of rupees one to three. -------- there will be bandhs, strikes, public property will be destroyed; again there will be reduction by a rupee or two. And there was this All India Bandh yesterday. Source--http://news.oneindia.in/2012/05/31/bharat-bandh-on-may-31-violence-reported-1010201.html New Delhi, May 31: In what can be seen as a coming together of various political parties to express protest over the steep hike in petrol prices, the Bharat bandh called by the NDA and the Left parties was anything but low-key. Stray incidents of violence and protests were reported across the country. Rail traffic was affected in Uttar Pradesh , workers blocked the rail routes in Allahabad and Patna. The Saket Express and Ganga Gomti Express have been reportedly stopped in Allahabad. The SP workers are protesting on the railway tracks and shouting slogans. West Bengal also saw unruly incidents by bandh supporters when they blocked the East-West by-pass in Kolkata. The common man had to bear the brunt of the bandh in Delhi as well when auto rickshaw unions expressed solidarity with the bandh that saw 55,000 autos and 15,000 taxis keeping off the road. The BJP had earlier warned of hampering traffic at around 100 areas across the city. In IT city Bangalore, miscreants torched 3 BMTC buses bringing the BMTC service to a complete stop. Office goers and others were left stranded in bus stands. A KSRTC bus has also been reportedly set on fire in Hubli. For the politicians it might be fun but for us it is so painful. Now I read in papers that this evening the price will be reduced by 1.50 rupees per liter, WHAT A FUN? Are you in favor of such bandhs? My son could not go his office; the workers engaged in home renovation work didn’t come. The milk supplier didn’t come. How people there ventilate their feelings on price rise etc. Please share your experience if any and comment on this. Thanks in advance. Prof.Dr. B.Saraf. PhD 1st June 2012.

namaskar sir, Any bandh is a burden on millions and as such it can never be a favorable thing. This so called thing has existed in Indian Society only because of our Father of the Nation - Mahatma Gandhi. And today, no one feels for the country... neither the politicians nor the others. Those who wanted to and needed to work were forced to stay away from work because some political parties believed that bandh would not only make their claims that they are for the country come true but also they would gain some mileage. politically. To think that the current government would heed to such bandhs is a mere foolish thing. The only good that I can thing yesterday about and after that bandh was- a press release from the government - okay we reduce the rise by 50 PAISE... now be happy that your bandh was successful...

Professor Brother: I am not in favour of bandhs . Here the price has been raised -- all of us are affected --solution is to reduce travel to an extent possible. Even though electricity charges have been revised we cannot avoid using the fan/AC because of heat. Bandhs are politically motivated sponsored by interested people to gain mileage and get popularity.
