"I have learned to seek my happiness by limiting my desires rather than in attempting to satisfy them.." I found these words while reading a book..We often hear similar kind of theory from religious gurus or philosophers, 'desires are responsible for sorrow, one should learn limit his desires for being happy..' And I really dont get this theory..:? making wishes and desires is human nature, if everybody start to follow this theory then how will the world move on..:? How can be one really happy to scarify its wishes? what would be the meaning exactly of life then?

In our Christian s book it says that God created Us with FREE WILL, but , he gave Us the Reason to determine what is good and what is bad. I think we reach an age where we can control desires , take what is good and leave what will affect Us. Lets be happy , but, happiness doesnt mean to do what ever we wish for, we have to take care of our menthal and boddy health , I think thats the beggining of happyness. I wish you the best mylot friend.

Hello safety, i agree ,'good mind good find'..we should not stop trying for our dreams, on the other hand we have to open our senses to differentiate between good and bad..

I have never been one to believe anything along the lines of 'suffering is caused by desire'. I think it was invented to help people deal with poverty, and a self blame game, seriously, telling someone they're miserable because they have desires. No, that's human nature, and while unfulfilled desires may cause misery, I do not think that pushing those desires away, is the answer to happiness.

A great way of gaining a lot of happiness is to minimize your desires. Despair arises only when a desire is unfulfilled. On the contrary if one limits his aspirations there is little to worry when things go out of control.

This only means that we need to appreciate what we have but of course you don't have to stop growing. You can desire but not too much because it will just make your life complicated. That's my interpretation with that.
