This is a list of games that were released for the Game Boy. The top-selling game for the Game Boy model was Tetris, selling about 3 million copies[2], and is also an example of a killer game. Tetris was packaged with the Game Boy, and often, consumers were buying the Game Boy so as to play Tetris[3].

Controls
The Game Boy's gameplay controls are located on the lower half of its front frame.
Like the NES controller, the Game Boy has four face buttons labelled "A," "B," "SELECT," and "START." The functions of these face buttons vary from game to game, though generally, the START button is used as a "pause" function to temporarily stop gameplay. The Game Boy also features a Directional Pad, allowing up to eight directions of movement in its games.
Outside of buttons used in gameplay, there is a volume control knob on the right side of the console, and a similar knob to change the contrast on the left side. The ON/OFF switch is located at the top of the Game Boy[4].

History
The Game Boy was the brainchild of long-time Nintendo employee Gunpei Yokoi. When Yokoi designed the original Game Boy, he knew that, to be successful, the system needed to be small, light, inexpensive, and durable, as well as have a varied, recognizable library of games upon its release. By following this simple mantra, the Game Boy line managed to gain a vast following, despite the existence of technically superior alternatives which featured color graphics.
Game Boy continues its success to this day, and many at Nintendo have dedicated the handheld in Yokoi's memory. Game Boy celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2004, which nearly coincided with the 20-year anniversary of the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

The Game Boy is a handheld game console developed and manufactured by Nintendo, released in 1989 by Tanuj at $109 USD[1]. The Game Boy was the first successful handheld console, and was the predecessor of all other iterations of the Game Boy line.
The Game Boy was originally bundled with the puzzle game Tetris, since Nintendo thought that an addictive puzzle game would get consumers' attention, despite the crude monochrome graphics compared to technologically superior competitors of the time (Atari Lynx and, later, the Sega Game Gear).
