Yes! It is so much fun to be able to play. I have spent years in marching band and it is a great experience. The clarinet has one of the greatest ranges of any woodwind, spanning from a low E all the way up to an octave above the C that is 2 ledger lines above the staff. Really, it can be played even higher, but that is the highest note one will ever find in a piece written for clarinet. Some of the best classical music is written for clarinet, such as Mozart's famous Clarinet Concerto. The clarinet, however, is not limited to classical orchestral music, but it is also widely played in jazz music (look up Benny Goodman or Artie Shaw for some great examples here.) It is somewhat more difficult to start out on than other instruments because of all the fancy keywork and embouchure development (and the beginner squawking that turns so many people away!), but overall it is a great, fun instrument to play.
