I love Pumpernickel bread. The only time I eat it is when I'm out as resturants.

I've always thought it looked good with the dip in the middle. But I've never had pumpernickel bread, at least not that I can remember.

You just made me hungry for it. I love this stuff. I usually buy the dip at the store but it can be expensive. I usually get the rye bread for this but pumpernickel works just as well. Here is a recipe for it, just substitute the pumpernickel for the rye..........
INGREDIENTS
1 (1 pound) loaf round rye bread
1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise
1 (4 ounce) jar dried chipped beef, chopped
1 teaspoon Beau Monde ™ seasoning
2 teaspoons celery salt
3 tablespoons dried dill weed
DIRECTIONS
Using a bread knife, remove the 'crown' of the bread. Hollow out the inside of the loaf, and cut into bite size cubes for dipping.
In a medium bowl, blend sour cream, mayonnaise, chipped beef, Beau Monde seasoning, celery salt, and dill weed. Mix thoroughly, cover, and chill for at least 1 hour.
Spoon the chilled dip into the hollow bread loaf, and serve with cubed bread for dipping.

I do, just as bread or with the dip. There is just something about the taste. I don't get it much though, one of those at parties things.

I love pumpernickel bread with spinach dip. That's the best way to eat it. I recently found a new bread recipe that is also great with spinach dip. It's 2 1/2 cups of self-rising flour, 3 tablespoons of sugar and 12 ounces of a carbonated lemon lime beverage. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. It sounds weird, but it's perfect for dips or sandwiches.
