| | Emotionally, I'm fonder of the Classic Trilogy (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi), but I'm glad Lucas made the newer ones. I mean, come on...we just had to know the origins of Darth Vader and not live with the tease of non-existent Episodes I, II and III! | | | |

| | There's more realism in some of the movies today, but a lot of movies rely too much on special effects, and not enough on story, plot, and character, in my opinion. | | | | | | |

| | exactly, I think the storys of old were much better, too much focus on FX now | | | |

| | Depends on the individual movie really. Some movies though they should never mess with - THE OMEN!! Others it doesn't matter cause I don't like either - TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. Posiedon is great though. | | | | | | |

| | I kept wondering why this topic appeared in "discussions on my interests." Which movie is being talked about. I clicked, and read, and now I'm "Ah ha!" Guess I also shoulda read the tag words. Despite what a lot of people may say, I honestly don't think Empire to be the best of the 3. If you ignore the part with the Ewoks, I rather like Jedi. I find it impossible to believe the little hairballs with their primitive weapons could hold a candle to the Empire, when so many other, advanced worlds, couldnt. I like the final battle, where Luke and Vadar battle it all out! Star Wars, if you think about it, after the initial capture of the counsolor ship, is kinda dull, for maybe 20 mins, really begining to pick up around the cantina. IMO, they should have started "Episode 1" at Episode 2. There was no good reason to start Anakin as a little boy. What gets me is how Doku owned Anakin and Ben in Clones, but was beat down so easily by Anakin in Sith. A pet peeve is how Leia talks with Luke about their mother in Jedi, but in Sith, she dies in birth. So how can Leia recall their ma, but Luke can't? Depending on how you look at things, in a lot of ways, I find the novels of the Expanded Universe to be better than what George wrote, generally. Han & Leia get married, and have 3 kids. Granted, I found the stories of Luke going to the dark side under sway of a reborn Emporer weak (maybe because it happened in comics, not a full-lenght novel?), but overall, I enjoy the EU a lot more than the "main universe." | | | | | | |

| | The topic I wanted to change after seeing it didnt come across as being in the Star Wars board. I liked return, including the ewoks, but I was 13 when they came out so it didnt bother me then or now I liked the Zahn books alot. Why didn't Anikin Recognize R2 and 3po?I read a few of the bookas after Zahn's the last I remember was leia being made president and the kids try to fix the falcon, thats where I put it down, I dont remember if I had a reason or just got bored. | | | |

| | They might have been better if the acting was better. I blame that on the directer as well as the actors. Natalie Portman is a much better actress then I saw in those movies. The guy who played anikin was horrible. I think lucus should have waited till the kid from one grew up and had him in the movie. He would not have done much worse | | | |

| | I suspect that the wooden acting was a direct result of filming in a completely green-screened room. With no interaction between the actor and his environment, it's hard for him to come across naturally. | | | |

| | I love both sets of movies. The originals are obviously classics, great stories and great effects for their time...once remastered they came up great. The more recent movies are also great, still love the stories, amazing special effects. I love them all, but think because of the technology leap for their age...the original movies will win every time. they were amazing on release for the day. | | | | | | |

| | I agree with your comment, and I'll add that the acting in all six films is not, by design, supposed to be Academy Award-worthy. The Star Wars saga was, and still is, a modernized version of the Saturday afternoon serials of the 1930s and 1940s...and those weren't exactly supposed to be elegant or "finely acted." | | | |
