Am I asking the right questions?

I have been posting a few thought proviking questions that in clude pictures and ask for pictures and those go unanswered. Yet at the same time time I can ask people how they like their steak and get a bunch of responses. Thought provoking discussions are the way for all of us to get ahead here folks. Or should I resort to the simple questions that require short and easy answers? I don't really want to do that.

Oh, please don't stop asking thought provoking questions. I'm desperately searching for some and it's SO hard to find any! MyLot moves so fast, though, and with all the hundreds of stupid posts, it's so hard to find the GOOD ones. I have to say, though, that I think myLot has said not to start discussions asking for pictures, so you might not want to do that. Just an FYI.

same here, I spend the most time here trying to find something to respond to. It's really frustrating. I didn't have this problem when i started a few months ago. I'll be nice and tactful and not say what I truely feel.

Trust me, I am in the same boat! I have noticed that the most inane questions get tons of responses, but if you ask something serious, then it is like pulling teeth to get a couple of responses! But, when I see a good question pass through on the message boards, I am soooo much more likely to respond to it than to one of the stupid ones! Keep at it!

I wish there was a way to post those questions in a different forum so that we could weed out the short one word answer type questions. It is hard to find the good one's through much of the junk that is on here. Perhaps we can all email the webmasters at mylot our suggestions?

Don't lower yourself to other peoples' unitellectual level. mylot says you make money off of quality discussions not whether you like your steak red or burnt.

This is how I feel exactly. Though I may ask a question like that, I want people to put thought into their answers. If they do that for me, I will put thought back into my response to them. That is the goal here isn't it, to work together having reasonable discussions in an attempt to make money. Not the shallow sort of thing we have to sort through all day long.

I understand, as I have seen the same results with some of my Questions I have started as well. I make sure though to try and keep all of my Discussions going if I can, by responding back to all of them, and then go from there. It usually helps keep some of them moving.

I am trying the same thing with mine as well. The problem lies when you have a discussion with 0 responses. Then it may be doomed to sit at the bottom in lieu of intelectually stimulating things like your brand of toothpaste or the color sock you wear on Thursdays.

No, don't resort to short stupid questions, give the rest of us time to find you! Thought provoking discussions are more fun, and also hardest to find! Don't give up yet!

I am new to all this also. I don't understand how it works at all. If anyone else knows and can explain it to me, please do!

There are a few topics out ther ethat will tell you how it works. Basically you post replys and discussions that will get the best replies. Although it seems like the ones that will get the most replies may be better in the long run I don't believe that they are. Best of luck to you!

Please keep posting thoughtful questions! I know a lot of people on here just want to respond to questions that they can whip off a quick few word answer to, but some of us are here for actual discussion!

I really think that english is alot of peoples second language on here. The simple questions are the ones that are easier for them to answer.

I read your question, and I read through all the responses all the way to the bottom, and the first thing I see is " Which is the Shoe, u like to wear the most?"
I dabbled a bit in trying to get comments, then trying to at least some kind of opinion out of people, even if it's just preference on a movie, but it seems that even that's too much.
I would enjoy a good debate or a discussion as well.

You make a very good point. Everyone here does have a choice. I choose more of the intelligent discussion path although I have answered the stray easy question or two. When I do answer those question I offer more then a one line answer. I try to give some insight or at lest support my opinion when I am responding.

Something else I see often is that some people are very careless if and when they do answer a question that requires some thought. I asked earlier what I could say to a depressed friend, and a user went as far as to tell me to "ask him if he wants to jump the bridge." To be honest, I wanted to find the guy and kick him off a bridge.

I think that the best way to ensure rewards for those of us who enjoy reading and contributing quality contributions to this site is to grow our 'friends' lists. I like the way you and most of the poeple replying to this thread seem like sensible folk who enjoy a proper 'grown-up' discussion or debate. For this I'll be requesting to add you as a friend and anyone like-mided is welcome to do the same to myself.
Thanks for an interesting thread!!
