The Charlotte Bobcats added depth and experience to their backcourt on Tuesday, signing veteran swingman Derek Anderson.
Terms were not disclosed.
Anderson, 32, split the 2005-06 campaign with the Houston Rockets and Miami Heat, averaging 8.1 points over 43 combined games with the two teams.
With the Bobcats, the 6-5 Anderson figures to serve as a backup for starting point guard Raymond Felton and No. 1 shooting guard Gerald Wallace.
"Derek is a veteran player who has the potential to help our team in several ways," Bobcats coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff said. "His versatility in the backcourt allows him to play either position. He is an exemplary person off the court and he reached the championship level last year with Miami."
A nine-year veteran, Anderson has been slowed considerably by knee injuries over the past several seasons. He has averaged 12.7 points and 3.6 assists in 537 career games with Miami, Houston, Portland, San Antonio, Cleveland and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Derek Anderson is just a injured, nearly washed up journeyman player looking to hold on to his NBA dreams. He will not have much of an impact on the Bobcats and will probably be released at the end of the season.
